STOP TURNPIKE NOISE   

FDOT has proposed widening the Turnpike in Broward County, Florida
with only Minimum to No Noise Barrier Walls

Stop Turnpike Noise is a grass-roots organization dedicated to informing our fellow community residents about this relatively unpublicized widening of the Florida Turnpike and to help them contact our Public Officials to ask for the installation of Noise Barrier Walls to reduce the harmful Turnpike noise pollution.

Did you know:

• Currently only minimum sound abatement barrier measures are proposed with construction

• Proposed Turnpike construction and widening extends throughout Broward County

• No tax dollars are used for Turnpike widening...only Turnpike revenue ...tolls, bonds and concessions.

• Florida's Turnpike Enterprises is our State largest revenue producing asset!

• The decision of whether or not to provide Noise Walls is made in a great part by community desires.

• FDOT Public Involvement Program - If you live more than 300 feet from any widening project then the Turnpike is not obligated to personally inform you, i.e. it is then up to you to find out and get involved!

• Widening Turnpike = Increased Noise & Air Pollution = Harmful to Health & Reduced Property Values

• A Public Hearing was held on 9/23/2003 - Read FDOT Turnpike's Responses to Public Comments

• Tuesday 16 August 2005 - FDOT Public Information Open House Hearing - 5 pm to 7 pm at Holiday Inn, Plantation
  "This Open House is being held ... to afford persons the opportunity to view the final locations of the sound barrier walls along the project. Drawings, maps, graphics, and other pertinent information developed by the FDOT will be available."
